01

Markets are noisy, adaptive systems. Firth Quant studies them the way a scientist studies any complex system — with careful measurement, falsifiable hypotheses and the discipline to be proven wrong.

We are a research-driven firm built around a simple conviction: durable results in markets come from the combination of mathematics, high-quality data and robust engineering — not from intuition, narrative or leverage.

Our focus is quantitative research and systematic trading: building models grounded in evidence, executing them through reliable technology, and treating risk as a first-class engineering constraint.

04

Where microseconds matter.

In electronic markets, the sequence in which events are observed and acted on is resolved at timescales far below human perception. We design systems with time treated as a measured, engineered quantity — from the physics of the network to the cost of every instruction.

  1. 0.33 nsOne clock cycle of a 3 GHz processor
  2. 1 nsLight travels ≈ 30 cm in a vacuum
  3. 1 µs≈ 3,000 cycles of a 3 GHz processor
  4. ≈ 5 µsLight through 1 km of optical fibre
  5. 1 msLight through ≈ 200 km of optical fibre
  6. 100–400 msDuration of a human blink

Every stage is deterministic, measured and independently testable. The risk stage sits on the critical path by design: no order can bypass pre-trade limits, however fast the rest of the system becomes.

05

Observe. Hypothesize. Validate. Execute.

A scientific method applied to markets. Each stage is a filter; most ideas are meant to stop before the last one.
  1. 01

    Observe

Study market structure and data without a conclusion in mind. Measure what is actually there — distributions, regimes, frictions — before asking what it means.

  2. 02

    Hypothesize

State a specific, falsifiable claim about market behaviour and the economic or mechanical reason it should hold. No rationale, no research.

  3. 03

    Validate

Test out-of-sample, account for every variant tried, include realistic costs and try hard to break the result. Most ideas should — and do — end here.

  4. 04

    Execute

Deploy only what survives, at sizes risk controls allow, then monitor live behaviour against expectation and retire models that drift.

06

Where we focus our research.

Each market has its own structure, frictions and data. These are the research areas Firth Quant explores; they are not a statement of live trading activity in every market.

Digital Assets

Continuous, fragmented, venue-rich markets with transparent order books — a natural laboratory for microstructure research.
